We offer unique, immersive training in two fields, with participants choosing either performance or backstage production.

You’ll be attending weekly, full-day sessions and working as part of a professional ensemble.

Which pathway will you choose?

Performance is an ensemble of learning disabled and/or neurodivergent adults working alongside professional actors to create new work which will be toured nationally.

Develop into a trained actor, rehearsal-ready for professional work in theatre, screen industries and radio.

We'll provide you with training in theatre skills such as: vocal skills (inc. accents, breath work, articulation & enunciation), physicality and characterisation.

You'll also learn special skills on a production-needs basis such as dance choreography, stage-combat, acting to camera, working outside, working in promenade, working in studio, and working in large scale theatre.

Join a touring ensemble as a performer or production artist working alongside professionals. For learning disabled and/or neurodivergent adults aged 18+.

Production Arts is a group of learning disabled and/or neurodivergent adults working alongside professional production artists to create high-quality props and sets for theatre productions.

You'll be creating everything from tiny bespoke props to full-scale set designs that will be used in  theatre productions at EGO and beyond, including EGO Creative Academy touring productions.

By learning and honing a wide range of techniques, you will develop as an artist in your own right.

Super EGO

The original EGO ensemble has supported hundreds of budding actors to explore, discover and hone their theatrical skills. 

An acting ensemble for all ages and abilities, meeting every Saturday morning. There are no creative boundaries when it comes to Super EGO. Always fresh, fun, and fabulous, this ensemble devise incredibly imaginative, boisterous and giddy productions. This is a friendly, safe space for people to learn how to make theatre, where everyone gets a chance to shine.

No experience required. EGO Boost is a friendly and supportive environment where aspiring young actors thrive and make lasting friendships.

The venue is wheelchair accessible. The session takes place on the Ground Floor and an accessible toilet is available. Free Blue Badge parking is available at Bishop St car park. 

Assistance dogs for disabled people are welcome. 

Your first session is free, and from then on you can access this group with an EGO membership, which costs £40 a month.

EGO Aukestra

For all aspiring melody makers, beat builders and jam junkies, tune in and turn up. EGO Aukestra is a music ensemble for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.

A music ensemble for adults aged 18+, meeting every Tuesday morning. Our musicians are free to fly high and explore their musical talents. Whether you want to play an instrument, sing or compose on your computer this ensemble is for you.

EGO Creates Jr.

EGO Creates Jr is a weekly production arts club for kids. 6 to 12 year olds of all abilities welcome. Develop your creative skills with step by step tuition from industry professionals, while creating professional props and sets for theatre and film.

We're a friendly, relaxed and no pressure environment, and we'll work with your ability level. All children aged 6 - 12 yrs are welcome, from school ages Year 3 to Year 7. Members learn the skills needed to design and make set and props for theatre and film.

The venue is wheelchair accessible. The group takes place on the First Floor, which is accessible from street level via a ramp. An accessible toilet is available on the Ground Floor.
